Youth Olympics Figure skating Shin Ji-ah and Kim Hyun-gyeom Re-Enter the Team Event on the 1st... Aim for Gold Medal

The ranking is determined by adding up the points of 3 out of 4 sports.

Competing with the United States, Canada, France, and China.

It is the first time that it is held as a national competition.

The next generation of Korean figure skaters are competing for gold at the Youth Olympic Games again.

The youth figure skating team will participate in the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games (Gangwon 2024) figure skating team event held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangwon-do on February 1.

Korea will feature women's singles Shin Ji-ah (Yeongdong Middle School), men's singles Kim Hyeon-gyeom (Hangwang High School), and ice dance team Ji-ni Kim and Namu Lee (Gyeonggi Provincial Skating Federation).

The Youth Olympics figure skating team event is very different from the Senior Olympics.

First of all, one team does not need to compete in all four events (men's and women's singles, ice dance, and pairs).

You are eligible to participate if you participate in at least three events, including men's and women's singles and one team event.

There are a total of five teams participating in the team event at this tournament, including Korea, the United States, Canada, France, and China, and the United States and Canada are the only teams participating in all four events.

The total score is determined by adding up the points for each detailed event.

However, only the three highest detailed item scores are combined.

The United States and Canada, which participate in all four events, will discard the points for the lowest event.

In addition, athletes do not compete in the short program (rhythm dance) and only compete in one free skating session (free dance).

Korea has a good chance of winning a medal.

Looking at the list of players participating in the team event from each country released by the competition organizing committee, Kim Hyun-gyeom and Shin Ji-ah can each take first place in the men's and women's singles.

Kim Hyun-gyeom has already won a gold medal in men's singles, and Shin Ji-ah has won a silver medal in women's singles.

Jinni Kim and Namu Lee are also competitive.

The two athletes made a mistake in the ice dance free dance and narrowly failed to win a medal with a gap of 0.76 points.

The determination of both players is great.

Jinni Kim gritted her teeth and said, “I will not make any mistakes and perform my best in the team event.”

The competition begins with ice dance at 11:30 a.m. and continues with pairs, men's singles, and women's singles.

Meanwhile, this is the first time that a national figure skating team event is held in the Youth Olympic Games that started in 2012.

Until the previous competition, players from each country formed teams and competed regardless of nationality.

Korea could become the inaugural champion of the Youth Olympics figure skating team event.
